FAQs
Where can I install the Dock-Well?
Dock-Wells should be installed on docks that support the safe use of Dock-Wells. This means:
-
Docks must be able to take the tension of your boat pulling on the Dock-Well, which in extreme cases may involve the Dock-Well in turn pulling on your dock where the Dock-Well is installed. Typically, sturdy wooden docks are the best type of dock for mounting Dock-Wells.
-
Docks must be able to be drillable in order to secure the Dock-Well insert to the dock. The installation materials in the Dock-Well Kit are designed to be used on wood.
-
The areas underneath where the Dock-Wells are being installed should be clear water: make sure the weighted dock lines can move freely and won't disturb wildlife or plant life. Typically five feet of clear water under the Dock-Well mounting spot should be sufficient.
What type of docking is the Dock-Well designed for?
The Dock-Well is designed to dock light to mid weight boats up to 30ft long that have cleats on them, which includes most recreational powerboats/motorboats. Dock-Wells are used for quick docking and undocking and should not be used to moor boats overnight or during rough conditions. Dock-Wells have been used on private docks and marine gas stations to temporarily secure boats.
